Senior Project Manager – Transformation Office

As they embark on their fossil-free transformation journey, they are looking for highly senior and experienced Project Managers. The plan is to replace the existing system with new mini-mill technology. This investment will enable a reduction of approx. 10% in Sweden’s total carbon dioxide emissions and approx. 7% in Finland’s.

There are currently two open positions: one hybrid role based in Stockholm, and one on-premise role based in Oxelösund.

About the position

Are you an experienced Senior Project Manager who has led highly complex industrial projects from start to finalization?

This is a highly strategic Senior Project Manager position where you will be responsible for a greenfield project in Oxelösund, a crucial project with the aim to secure that SSAB succeed in their green transition.

As a person you show great commitment and take full responsibility for your scope. You naturally take the lead in a trustworthy way and have great communication skills. The transformation project is the biggest construction and operations implementation project in SSAB's history. To succeed we look for people who are both humble as well as driven and who understands that this is a collaboration with many stakeholders where people share knowledge – “together we create value”.

Responsibilities

Provide a higher level and wider scope of management to major capital projects to secure on time, on budget and on scope delivery. The aim is to achieve SSAB production footprint for fossil free steel production. Run major projects on a day-to-day basis and delegate tasks to individual project managers as well sets and monitor staffing requirements.
Have the overall operative project responsibility to prepare budget estimates and develop detailed project plans for all phases of the project. The aim is to provide a realistic capex budget for major Greenfield project and necessary actions for execution.
Coach subordinate project managers and team leaders. Motivating the project team, as well as resolving conflicts/blockers or technical and operational issues with the team.
Support procurement in contractual negotiations with equipment and service vendors. Align commercial terms and conditions with project objectives and scope.

Your qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

Master’s degree in economics/business, engineering, logistics or legal and/or equivalent professional experience
10+ years proven track record and experience of multi-billion Capex project involving process equipment, civil works and construction
Experience and deep knowledge of project management models
Project leadership skills to deliver major Green field projects from start to finalization
Capacity to coordinate internal/external engineering work to produce accurate capex estimates and to support procurement in contractual negotiation
