System Design Architect - Onboard Connectivity

We are looking for a highly experienced System Design Architect – Onboard Connectivity to join an innovative engineering organization developing next-generation connected solutions for marine and industrial applications.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about connected platforms, embedded systems, telematics, and cross-functional system architecture. You will play a key role in securing integration of onboard connectivity solutions into application platform architecture while collaborating with multiple stakeholders across engineering and digital ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the key point of contact for onboard connectivity integrations into new and existing power solutions

• Review business requirements and identify suitable technical and architectural solutions

• Analyze and evaluate connectivity technologies and anchor decisions with stakeholders

• Collaborate with platform architects, system architects, suppliers, and component owners

• Define and align integration requirements toward platform teams

• Interface with Digital & IT teams and backend system stakeholders

• Support ideation, architecture definition, and future connectivity solution strategies

• Drive alignment between embedded platforms, telematics systems, and cloud/back-office ecosystems

• Contribute to system-level design decisions involving cybersecurity, communication protocols, and connected services

Required Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of relevant experience within system architecture, connectivity, or embedded software

• Strong experience with:

  • Connected vehicles or connected embedded systems

  • Telematics and onboard connectivity solutions

  • CAN communication systems

  • Embedded software architecture

  • Cyber Security principles

  • Agile development methodologies

• Experience working with cross-functional technical stakeholders and suppliers

• Ability to translate business needs into technical system requirements

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or similar

Meritorious

• Experience from marine, automotive, industrial, or off-highway domains

• Knowledge of cloud-connected platforms and backend integrations

• Experience with system integration across embedded and digital ecosystems

• Familiarity with OTA, diagnostics, remote services, or connected fleet solutions
