The Team
You will join the Tools and Platforms team, where we build products that make Varnish easy to deploy, scale, and operate.
One of those products is Varnish Controller, the control plane for running Varnish at scale. It configures, orchestrates, and monitors fleets of caching nodes across multiple instances and locations while exposing the APIs and tooling used to manage deployments.
On top of that, we build Varnish CDN, our fully managed content delivery platform that combines our caching and control software into a complete CDN solution used by customers around the world.
You will be part of a small team of around seven backend and frontend engineers based in Karlstad, Sweden. Together, we design and build reliable, well-tested software that supports modern hosting and deployment environments.
About the role
We are looking for a Frontend Engineer to help build and evolve the web interfaces for our CDN, SaaS products, and distributed software packages. You will work across several Vue applications, including our customer-facing CDN portal, the Varnish Controller UI, and new applications we are building from the ground up.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will have the freedom and trust to solve problems independently, contribute ideas, and choose the right approach for the task. You will own features end to end, from understanding requirements and designing solutions through implementation, testing, and deployment.
Your work will directly shape the experience of customers operating Varnish products at scale.
What you will work on
Building customer-facing SaaS portals for our CDN platform, including billing, account management, configuration, traffic analytics, and self-service tooling.
Developing operational tooling such as the Varnish Controller UI, used to manage and monitor large caching fleets.
Building new user interfaces from the ground up.
Designing dashboards, charts, large data tables, and real-time status views.
Our frontend applications are built with Vue 3, TypeScript, and Vite. Day to day, you will work with state management, routing, data grids, charting, forms, and a strong testing culture. We value engineers who write typed, tested, and maintainable code.
You do not need to know every tool we use on day one. If you are comfortable working with Javascript and TypeScript, you will quickly get up to speed.
In practice, you will design and develop features, review code, investigate and resolve bugs, contribute to technical discussions, and occasionally work with customers to help solve technical challenges.
What we expect
Professional experience building production frontend applications using Vue or a comparable framework.
Experience working with TypeScript.
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, accessibility, and browser performance.
Comfortable working with REST APIs.
Comfortable working in Linux environments.
Experience using Git and Docker.
The ability to take an ambiguous problem, scope it, and deliver a solution independently.
Experience writing meaningful tests and producing readable, maintainable code with attention to edge cases and error handling.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, humble, and eager to learn. We value engineers who communicate openly, support their teammates, and take ownership of their work.
Nice-To-Have ⭐️
Experience working on SaaS products used by real customers.
Experience with Vue.
Experience with CDN, caching, networking, or other infrastructure products.
Experience building and maintaining shared component libraries or design systems.
Experience with data visualisation and dashboard development.
Familiarity with Go backends.
UX/UI experience, including wireframes, mockups, and prototyping.
How we work
A small team based in Karlstad, Sweden, our preferred location for this role, where your work has real, visible impact and you have a genuine say in product development.
Part of a global, international company where you will collaborate across teams and locations, building products used by some of the world's largest organisations.
Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home. We trust you to manage your own time.
A modern, well-maintained frontend stack, with opportunities to shape new applications and contribute throughout the full software lifecycle, from idea to production.
We value simple, direct solutions over clever or over-engineered ones, and code review is an important part of our engineering culture.
A laid-back, non-hierarchical environment where we take our work seriously, enjoy what we do, and value flexibility, independence, and trust.
