Forwardly Deployed Engineer (Senior)

Remote Team Solutions

About Salve

Salve is a composable iPaaS and master data management platform built for regulated industries — cannabis, CPG, nicotine, and beyond. We sit at the center of our clients' tech stacks, integrating ERPs, POS systems, ecommerce platforms, and data warehouses into unified, compliant architectures. Our clients are operators running complex, multi-state businesses, and they rely on us to make their systems talk to each other and tell the truth.

About the Role

Somewhere in here is a person who actually  likes this job — not tolerates it, likes it. The daily standup. The ticket that turns out to be a UOM mismatch three systems deep. The client who calls because a number looks wrong and it takes an hour of digging to prove it isn't. Most engineers want to build the shiny new thing and hand off the boring maintenance to someone else. We need the opposite: someone who wants to live in the thing that's already built, know it better than anyone, and keep it running.

We need an engineer to take over day-to-day support, the recurring calls, the troubleshooting — the unglamorous, repetitive, keep-the-lights-on work — and be genuinely good at it because they enjoy it, not because they're stuck with it. Just as important: they need to actually like the people they're working with, and be someone the team likes working with back. This role only works if you're a team player first and an engineer second.

You'll sit on the Customer Ops team. But make no mistake — you'll work with every single person on this team. Support, engineering, data, leadership, clients. If someone at Salve touches a client integration, you'll be talking to them.

What You'll Do

  • Learn the platform inside and out — our applets (Apollo/APL), integrations, and data flows across every client, until you know it better than the people who built it.

  • Own the day-to-day — the recurring client calls, the support queue, the "why did this number change" questions. This is the job, not a distraction from it.

  • Be the person Support calls first — Resolve it, or know exactly who to loop in and why.

  • Be a genuine team player — you show up for the people around you, not just the tickets in front of you. Support, engineering, clients — you make everyone's day a little easier.

  • Find root cause, not just symptoms — reconcile data across systems, dig until the discrepancy makes sense.

  • Build and maintain integration applets — data mappings, API configs, workflow logic.

  • Turn the recurring stuff into standards — runbooks, documentation, SOPs on Apollo, so the same issue doesn't get re-solved from scratch every time.

What We're Looking For

  • Someone who wants maintenance and support to  be the job — not a stepping stone to something else.

  • A real analyst — you don't stop at "seems fine," you stop at "I know exactly why."

  • Process-minded — you document things because you don't want to answer the same question twice.

  • Good with people — you're the one Support actually wants to work with, and steady enough for the occasional client call.

  • A true team player — you'd rather help someone else solve their problem than protect your own turf. You like the people you work with, and it shows.

  • Working knowledge of integration patterns: REST APIs, webhooks, ETL/ELT, EDI, SQL/data transformation.

  • Open source advocate - Python or PHP developer with real experience in FastAPI and/or Laravel.

  • Self-directed — small team, nobody's spec-feeding you.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated industries (cannabis, nicotine, alcohol, pharma).

  • Familiarity with ERP, manufacturing, supply chain, eCommerce or retail Ops

  • Experience with dbt, Airflow/Astronomer, or modern data stack tooling.

  • Background at a startup or small consultancy where you wore multiple hats.

Location

Remote (US-based preferred, +2 hours ET). Some travel for client onboarding or team onsites possible.
