ABOUT THE JOBEmail is the most constrained design medium we have. It's modular, it's rules-bound, it renders differently in every inbox on earth and most brands treat that as an excuse to be boring.
We don't want that person. We want the designer who looks at a module-based system and asks "okay, but what can I actually do with this?" and then does something nobody expected.
You'll sit within our CRM team, reporting to the Head of CRM, and own the look and feel of CAIA's email marketing, treating every send as both a piece of craft and a commercial decision.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESDesign email campaigns and automated flows that look nothing like a template within (and around) the constraints of a modular email system.
Partner closely with the CRM and data side of the team: you'll know which designs convert, not just which ones look nice, and you'll have the numbers to prove it.
Turn briefs into concepts, concepts into modules, and modules into sends that feel unmistakably CAIA. Push the boundaries of what email design can be for us: new layouts, new mechanics, new ways to use the system we have and challenge the "we've always done it this way" reflex.
Help build and evolve our email design system so it stays consistent without ever getting stale.
QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL SKILL
A genuinely creative designer who's allergic to the status quo. You get bored by safe work and energised by a hard constraint.
A natural storyteller. You keep a clear red thread, narrative, and logic running through everything you present, so a campaign reads as one coherent story rather than a stack of disconnected modules.
1–4 years of design experience, ideally with email or digital/CRM design somewhere in there.
Commercially minded. You understand that design in a CRM context exists to drive a result, opens, clicks, and revenue and you're comfortable being measured on it.
Strong on layout, typography, and visual hierarchy, with a sharp eye for brand consistency. Fluent in the modern design toolkit (Figma + the Adobe suite), and not afraid to get into the weeds of how an email is actually built.
Collaborative and fast. You like working close to marketers, copywriters, and data people, and you ship.
Bonus points
Experience creating content for performance marketing (paid social, display, etc.) you can move between a beautifully crafted email and a thumb-stopping ad without missing a beat.
A feel for motion, GIFs, or interactive email mechanics.
You've worked in beauty, fashion, or another fast-moving DTC brand.
