MustHaves:
- Must have at least five (5) years experience in the structural steel industry in a similar role.
- Must understand means and methods of the steel fabrication and steel erection process.
- Must have construction experience.
NiceToHaves:
- Strong experience reviewing contract drawings and specifications along with other information related to structural steel.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Bluebeam Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- BS in Civil Engineering Construction Management or related discipline preferred but not necessary.
Job Description:
This position is officebased and reports to the Chief Estimator. The scope of work for the position involves executing computeraided and hand takeoff estimates of structural steel components. This includes an understanding and ability to labor standard components. Tasks will include the development of supporting documentation for the preparation of a complete estimate.
The Estimator will be required to perform takeoffs of all types of structural steel components and typical detail requirements. Reviewing vendor and subtier quotes to ensure scope compliance with contract documents is also essential.
The role involves producing estimate summaries identifying basic and special requirements for the required scope of work such as buyout items. Additionally the Estimator will assist in the training of Estimators In Training positions.
